Determining candidacy for breast augmentation requires a thorough evaluation of physical health and psychological readiness. The ideal candidate is a non-smoker or an individual willing to quit smoking several weeks before and after the surgery to ensure proper healing. Smoking constricts blood vessels, which significantly increases the risk of complications such as skin necrosis and delayed wound healing.
Candidates should be in good overall physical health, free from active infections or chronic medical conditions that could impair surgical recovery. Furthermore, patients must have realistic expectations regarding the outcome. While surgery can dramatically improve appearance, it does not guarantee perfection or absolute symmetry.
