The ideal candidate is a physically healthy individual who is bothered by signs of facial aging, such as nasolabial folds (smile lines), marionette lines, hollows under the eyes (tear troughs), or thinning lips.
Patients should have realistic expectations regarding the outcome. While fillers can significantly rejuvenate the face, they cannot achieve the results of a surgical facelift. Candidates must not have active skin infections, inflammation, or cystic acne in the treatment area. Furthermore, individuals with a history of severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) or hypersensitivity to lidocaine or gram-positive bacterial proteins should avoid certain types of fillers.

The cost of dermal fillers is highly variable and depends on several factors, including the geographic location of the practice, the expertise of the injector, and the specific brand and type of filler used. Unlike surgical procedures, filler costs are typically calculated per syringe.
It is crucial for patients to prioritize the qualifications of the injector over the price. "Discount" fillers offered at non-medical spas or by untrained personnel carry a significantly higher risk of complications and may involve counterfeit or unapproved products.
