As with any surgical procedure, otoplasty carries inherent risks, though serious complications are rare when performed by a qualified board-certified surgeon.
- Hematoma: A collection of blood under the skin can occur. If small, it may resolve on its own; however, large hematomas require drainage to prevent pressure necrosis of the cartilage.
